It’s a common question. Yes, you can wear glasses or contact lenses! We’d hate for you to miss out on the beautiful views around Mossel Bay.
Wearing glasses on your skydive is recommended but there are a few things to bear in mind. The high-speed wind rushing all around you at 200kms per hour during freefall is strong, and without proper precautions, there is a possibility that they will fly off. If you wear prescription glasses, you’ll be provided with skydiving goggles that should fit comfortably over most frames. These goggles are designed for high-speed freefall and are securely fitted by your instructor before exiting the aircraft. Your glasses stay on, protected, and secure from exit to landing.
However, depending on the size and shape of your frames, if the goggles don’t fit securely, the glasses might get blown off your face. The safest advice for your specs is that if you can see without them, don’t wear them on the skydive. If you need them to see clearly, speak to our instructors on arrival and try on a pair of the goggles to see how they fit. Your instructors will help you with the fitting.

Contact lenses are also safe for skydiving. Many experienced skydivers (including our instructors) jump with contacts regularly. If you decide to wear contact lenses while skydiving, please let your instructor know so that they can properly adjust your goggles. The goggles must fit snugly, creating a nice seal around your eyes to help keep wind and debris out. Some customers have said that the wind against their face during freefall makes their eyes water and very rarely, this might cause a contact lens to shift or dislodge.
