What made you decide to come work at SMB and how long have you been at SMB?

I’ve been working here for 2 years. It was where I first learned how to skydive and I knew it would be a place where I could progress in the sport and turn it into a career.

Who do you look up to in the sport of skydiving? And briefly say why.

I mostly look up to Donovan Crerar because he was one of my AFF Instructors and because I know he has loads of experience, knowledge and skill with regards to skydiving which I hope to master one day. He has been my mentor throughout my skydiving career and is one of many people that I look up to.

What’s the furthest you’ve been from home?

The furthest I’ve been from home was Maputo in Mozambique on a cruise I went on when I was 11.

What’s the biggest disruption the coronavirus has had in life besides staying home all the time?

The COVID 19 virus has caused many disruptions in everyone’s lives, my biggest would probably the lack of social contact. I appreciate the time I get to myself but I do miss meeting and having conversations with other people.

What opportunities has skydiving opened up for you that you didn’t expect?

Skydiving has changed my whole outlook on life. It has given me the opportunity to meet some truly extraordinary people and make friends from all around the world! It has also given me the opportunity to teach people and be taught by them. I really enjoy the scientific side of things as well, how things like parachutes, air pressure, aerodynamics and so on actually work.

Share a detail about yourself that someone would be surprised to learn?

When I was 7, I was nearly shot and killed in a school robbery. The guy fired 3 shots at me whilst I was running. F**k knows why you would try to rob a school but yeah. Luckily the guy had terrible aim haha.

Do you have a secret skill that few people know about?

I don’t know if this classifies as a skill but I’ve done a couple of really cool pieces of art using wood, the sun, and a magnifying glass.
