Go on be a sport

When one thinks about sport you think of rugby, cricket or soccer…how banal. Think more adventurous. Skydiving has been around as a sport since the mid-fifties using static line training to teach people to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft!

Tandem Skydiving: Is it Safe?

Skydiving is an extreme sport and if you’re going for the first time you’ll naturally feel anxious and have questions about skydiving safety. Although rare, injuries do sometimes occur but this is almost always due to deviation from the rules and regulations governing the sport of skydiving. There is an element of risk. The same can be said about driving too fast, skiing, crossing the road, or swimming. Believe it or not, skydiving has become much safer over the years. The equipment is now far more specialized and advanced, the training provided to instructors is extensive and intensive and better safety procedures and regulations have been produced over the many years the sport evolved. Skydiving is strictly regulated by the Parachute Association of South Africa to ensure the safety measure are correctly practiced.

What does freefall feel like?

You’ve managed to pluck up the courage to include tandem skydiving in your holiday itinerary for South Africa and wondering what it’s going to feel like while hurtling towards the earth with your trusted tandem instructor. When making the booking, you will get the option of jumping from 10,000 feet or 12,000 feet giving you up to 40 seconds of freefall. But what does freefall feel like? Is it a sense of flying or is it closer to falling? Some people have referred to it as a sense of feeling weightless. Others have said it doesn’t feel like falling because you can feel the push of air against you as you pick up speed. It’s very windy, loud, and fast.

Will Smith skydiving experience, a brilliant narrative of how the actor got to jump.

You might have been here before. An outrageous evening and then an outrageous bet… Let us go skydiving tomorrow! And everybody high-fives and toasts with another shooter and then…. your mate wakes you and says, come-on, we are going to be late! Suddenly you are faced with the reality – You signed up to jump out an aircraft from a dizzy height.
Whatever it was that got you into doing your first skydive, there is no doubt that you would have felt some measure of apprehension before the time, ranging between mildly nervous to beyond terrified.
